A Barisal court Monday sentenced a drug peddler to life-term imprisonment and fined Tk 30,000 or to serve more 9 months imprisonment in default.
Anwarul Haque, district and session judge of Barisalhanded down the verdict in absentia of the fugitive accused Jahangir Matubbar, son of late Toiab Ali Matubbar of Chhoto Sandip under Shariatpur district.
The court after examining 8 witnesses and other evidences pronounced the verdict. Faruk Hossain, bench clerk of the court, said accused Jahangir was arrested from Launch Ghat area of Barisal city by patrol team of RAB-8 on June 18, 2015 evening. Then 36 gram heroin and 148 yaba tablets were seized from his possessions.
