Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken a tight security measure so that the city dwellers can spend the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr smoothly, reports UNB.
“Adequate security measures will be in place so that the city dwellers can come out of and return to their homes safely during Ramadan,” DMP Commissioner Asadsuzzaman Mia said while briefing reporters on the Ramadan security at the DMP Headquarters on Monday. Plainclothes police will be deployed at important city points, including shopping malls, alongside law enforcers in uniform to ensure foolproof security, he said. The DMP chief said an adequate number of police will be stationed at every shopping mall so that the Eid shoppers can shop without any hassle.
Surveillance by intelligence agencies and police patrolling will continue to check mugging and extortion as well as the activities of ‘Ogyan and Malam parties’ during the fasting month, he said. Asaduzzaman also urged the shop owners to boost their own security arrangements installing CCTV cameras in shopping malls. All the shoppers will have to go through archways and face search by metal detectors for entry into shopping malls, he said.
