Three-member probe committee formed

A three-member committee has been formed, with the principal of Rajshahi College, Prof M Habibur Rahman, as its member secretary. It has been tasked to find out how more than 100 answer papers of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams were found in a girls' dormitory of Rajshahi University (RU) on Monday.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting yesterday. The chairman of the Intermediate and Secondary Education Board of Rajshahi, Prof Abul Kalam Azad, was in the chair.  This was confirmed by Tarun Kumar, examination of controller of the Intermediate and Secondary Education Board, Rajshahi.
The other members of the committee are Rajshahi Government City College teacher Prof Mollah Mofizur Rahman and education board college inspector Akbor Hossain. The authorities have asked the committee to submit its report within seven days.
More than 100 answer papers of Islamic History were seized from the dormitory of the Monnujan Hall. These were later handed over to the Rajshahi Intermediate and Secondary Education board authorities. Sources said Prof Abul Kalam of the New Government Degree College in Rajshahi gave the answer papers to one of his relatives, Md Masudul Hasan, lecturer of the Shah Makhdum College in Rajshahi and also director of the Mp3 BCL Centre's Rajshahi University branch. Masud passed on the papers to one of his students, who gave those to a woman friend for evaluation. The theoretical exams of the HSC ended on May 1. The practical exams will continue till Thursday.
UNB adds from Rajshahi: Abul Kalam Azad, assistant professor of New Govt Degree College, Rajshahi has been made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
