A court in Pabna yesterday sent 11 people, including Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif's son Sirhan Sharif Tamal, to jail in a case filed for vandalism, reports UNB from Pabna. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim sent them to jail rejecting their bail petitions.
The other accused of the case are-Rupok, Jahangir, Zafar Iqbal, Rony, Prince Islam, Mahbub Islam, Sabirul, Mehedi Hasan, Samsul and Masum.
Earlier on Friday, police arrested them from different parts of the district town, in connection with the case. Atiar Biswas, father of Zubaiyer Biswas, president of upazila unit Chhatra League, filed the case with Ishwardi Police Station on Thursday night making Sirhan Sharif Tamal and Jubo League leader Rajib Sarkar the main accused for vandalism. Police said Land Minister Shamsur Rahman, also an MP from Pabna-4 constituency, and his son-in-law Ishwardi municipality Mayor Abul Kalam Azad had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.
