Muradpur-Lalkhan Bazar flyover to be opened to traffic before Eid

CHITTAGONG: The much-awaited Muradpur-Lalkhan Bazar flyover in the port city will be opened to traffic before Eid-ul-Fitr nearly half a year ahead of the schedule time, reports BSS.
Construction works of 5.2-kilometre-long Muradpur-Lalkhan Bazar flyover, as part of the massive development work for Chittagong under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are almost done.
About 95 per cent works of the longest flyover in the second largest city and country's commercial capital Chittagong has already been completed, said Project Director Mahfuzur Rahman.
The finishing works of the flyover, including setting up electric pools, were at the peak, the project director said.
Besides, the construction works of three loops at a cost of Taka 235 crore is also being done, Mahfuzur Rahman added.
The first part of the flyover is from Bahaddarhat point to Sholoshahar
Gate Number-2, the second one from Sholoshahar Gate Number-2 to GEC intersection and the 3rd one from GEC intersection to WASA intersection.
The city's first Bahaddarhat flyover will connect to Muradpur-Lalkhan Bazar flyover which will immensely ease traffic congestion in the busiest areas of the city, he further added.
Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) is implementing the flyover project at a cost of Taka 697 crore.
The Muradpur-Lalkhan Bazar flyover will be renamed after late prominent Awami League leader Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu, former industry and commerce secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. 
The flyover will be extended up to WASA intersection and it would connect 18-kilometre-long elevated express way to Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
