Resolve CHT land dispute: President

President Abdul Hamid on Sunday asked the Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution Commission to take effective steps to resolve the ongoing land disputes in the hilly region so that its development potential could be tapped, reports UNB.
The President came up with the instruction when Chairman of the Commission Justice Mohammad Anwarul Haque met him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Noting that the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) has huge development potential, the president said the country's development process will get a boost if the CHT resources could be utilised.
Hamid hoped that the Commission will take immediate steps to resolve the ongoing land disputes in the CHT and will play an important role in utilising the development potentials of the region.
Apprising the president of its overall activities, Justice Anwarul Haque said the Commission is continuing its all-out efforts to resolve the long-standing land disputes of the CHT.
He sought the President's advice and assistance in conducting the Commission.
