A former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League was found hanging in police custody at Jaintapur police station in Sylhet early yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam Babu, 32, son of Abdul Jalil, of Chiknagul Kohaigor village of the upazila. He was the accused in a case filed by his wife Nasrin under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Nazrul served as a fourth grade employee of Jaintapur Upazila administration. Police claim Babu committed suicide. A team of police led by Akhtar, officer-in-charge of Shah Paran Police Station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), arrested Nazrul from Bateswar area of the city on Thursday night. Later, they handed him over to Jaintapur Police Station.
