Mominul makes steady progress

Mominul Haque already established himself as a dependable batsman not only in domestic cricket but also in international cricket through his steady progress.
The left-handed batsman is a regular member of Bangladesh Test squad though his place in one-day squad is not consolidated. But he tries his best at what level he gets chance to play.
He is playing his trade for Gazi Group Cricketers, who were unbeaten till the ninth round game of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
The match the south-paw played against Kalabagan Krira Chakra was his 100th match in List-A cricket but he could not keep it memorable as he got out for zero. Unfortunately, his team’s unbeaten run ended in the day after his fall.
This season he showcased his career best List-A performance by hitting 152. Now his place is only after Tamim Iqbal, who broke all the previous domestic records by hitting 157 earlier of the league.
Both players did their individual feat in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL). But Mominul is not happy with his performance. He said that he will try to fill up his expectation what he misses to do in the first phase of the DPL.
“I am not satisfied with my performance what so far I played in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) because I was out having set in the wickets in a string of innings. If I could convert them into century, it would since be better,” said Mominul Haque.
On these wickets, I should score 500-600 runs from 11 matches in the first phase of the DPL. In that sense, I could not score more runs. So I am not happy. It would be better if I make it. We have still seven matches I’ll try to cover it up,” Haque told The Independent.
Before their shocking drubbing to Kalabagan Krira Chakra, the middle-order batsman said that they all expect to continue their unbeaten run as much as possible.
“Since the team is making good result, we are enjoying it. It seems good to me also. It is that we’re doing well so the team is doing well also,” the diminutive batsman said.
“We did not concede any defeat up to 9th round. So every body in the team and club has good expectation to continue the tempo as much as possible,” he also said.
“We’ve seven matches ahead. So, it’s tough to say we’ll be able to keep it intact or slip any of them,” he added.
He had nothing in his mind but if he could bat till 50 overs then his score would be better than 150.
“I never express my feeling in that way,” he said, adding “At that time, it was needed to perform for the team as some quick wickets were fallen. I’ve tried to play for the team till 40-50 overs though I could not play 50 overs. But if I could play 50 overs, the score would then be better than 150.”
But the 25-year-old batsman said that they will give their best effort whether the result come in our favour or not.
“We’ve devised our plan to play the league match by match in where we try to give our best efforts whether the result come in our favour or not,” he signed off.
