Bangladesh Jewellers Samity called off an indefinite strike last night, three hours after announcing it citing ‘harassment’ by customs officials. Jewellers association leaders announced the decision after a meeting with Moinul Khan, Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate. Earlier in the day, they announced their strike following a raid by customs officials at a shop of Amin Jewellers at New Market in the capital in the afternoon.
