Jewellers call off strike within hours
Bangladesh Jewellers Samity called off an indefinite strike last night, three hours after announcing it citing harassment by customs officials. Jewellers association leaders announced the decision after a meeting with Moinul Khan, Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate. Earlier in the day, they announced their strike following a raid by customs officials at a shop of Amin Jewellers at New Market in the capital in the afternoon.
