Stocks ended the week yesterday downward with falling trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on lower transactions, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 30.01 points down at 5399.66. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 3.45 points down at 1255.17 and with 10.32 points down at 2991.80.
Out of the 332 issues traded on DSE, 90 gained against 192 losing issues.
The week's trade value at DSE declined to Tk 635.23 crore from the last session of previous week Tk 687.05 crore and the weekly trade also fell to 17.14 shares from 19.22 crore shares of the previous week.
The top five gainers of the day were EXIM 1st Mutual Fund, ICB 2nd NRB, Asia Insurance, Rangpur Foundry and Mercantile Insurance. The major losing issues included Regent Textile, Kay and Que, Pacific Denim, Dulamia Cotton and FAS Finance.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 111.59 points lower at 16698.85. Losers dominated the market as 151 issues closed lower, 63 closed higher and 24 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The CSE traded 1.25crore shares and mutual fund units worth nearly Tk 38.96 crore in turnover.
