SYLHET: A student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), who was found in a critically-injured state, succumbed to a mysterious death on Wednesday morning, reports UNB.
Officer-in-Charge of Sylhet Railway Police Station Jahangir Hossain said locals recovered the body of Mostrain Razzak Mamun, 22, critically injured from a pond adjacent to the rail tracks at Kalakati of Fenchuganj on Wednesday morning.
Although they rushed him to the Fenchuganj Upazila Health Complex, doctors there referred him to the MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital. There however, doctors declared him dead.
OC Jahangir said Mostain Mamun was an irregular student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department of SUST, and lived with his family at the Medical Colony in Rikabibazar. His parents are both doctors attached to different institutions in Sylhet. Family members said that Mostrain left for university on Tuesday morning, and did not return the whole day. When night fell with no word from him, they initiated a search for him in different areas of the city. His cellphone meanwhile was switched off.
The family is claiming he must have been pushed off a train, as the only way he could have ended up where he was found. The OC has admitted the possibility at least, terming it “a matter for investigation”. With so little known about the circumstances surrounding how he came to fall into the swamp, nothing actually can be ruled out. Doctors at Osmani Medical College and Hospital said there was a serious injury mark on the back of his head, and the most likely cause of death was excessive loss of blood.
