Brothers Union moved into the quarterfinals of the Walton Federation Cup after a goalless draw with Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in a dull match yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
The day’s only match was almost a boring encounter for full 90 minutes time while none of the team looked enthusiastic to score goals while Rahmatganj had already made their room in the quarterfinal after winning their first match and Brothers needed only draw or narrow margin defeat to qualify.
Rahmatganj, in the first match trounced Team BJMC by 3-0, as their quarterfinal place was confirmed after playing the opening match.
On the other hands, Brothers made one all draw against Team BJMC in their first encounter and needed a draw and at least a lesser margin defeat to move ahead.
However, Rahmatganj, who just veiled in their first match against BJMC that they would come again as the trouble maker for the giants when they displayed amazing performance with playing full command throughout 90 minutes times.
On the day also they had clear dominance and could score two goals inside half an hour mark when Faisal and Rashedul, scorers of the last match squandered consecutive chances.
Faisal had the first chance on 25th minute but he looked very much shaky to take a weak shot straight to goalkeeper. Rashedul also had an opportunity to lead Rahmatganj but his effort missed the cross piece narrowly on 30th minute, as he failed to mark the target being unmarked inside the box.
The last chance came to Rahmatganj to break the deadlock on 64th minute but this time Rashedul's, effort denied by the goalkeeper and substitute Ealis’s attempt on the rebound hit the side post.
