Cricket Australia (CA) expressed its desire to play the first Test of the two-Test series between Bangladesh and Australia at the renovated Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the next August before the Eid-ul-Azha.
The visiting CA delegation proposed to play the second Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong in September after the Eid.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury revealed all to media after holding a meeting with Australian delegation yesterday.
Meanwhile, Anti-corruption and Security Manager of Cricket Australia (CA) Sean Carrol on Wednesday reiterated his satisfactory to get the assurance from the government security identities regarding the security arrangement for Australian cricket team during their upcoming tour in Bangladesh.
Carrol met with Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) high-ups and held discussions for a longer period yesterday. The Cricket Australia delegation left Dhaka yesterday night after their three day tour of Bangladesh.
Following his discussions with law-enforcement agencies, he appeared in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) for a while. The CA’s security chief witnessed the stadium and its facilities. He also went inside the dressing room of the stadium. Before leaving the SBNCS premises, he talked to local media and gave the answers of their questions.
“I am very happy with the security plan what was proposed,” said Sean Carrol.
“Today it would be unfair to comment. I have to go through the security plan otherwise general people would not know what about the security plan,” Carrol told reporters.
“But I are to saying to Cricket Australia that I am happy with the plan…….,” he added.
Praising BCB and the government entities of Bangladesh, the security chief said that his talks with Home Minister, IGP, DGFI and RAB have been successful.
“Last two days were very fruitful and very successful as far as our concern. I would like to thank BCB the opportunity that come out here and talk to the various government entities’ officials,” Sean said.
During his visit in Mirpur, he was accompanied by BCB chief executive (CE) Nizam Uddin Chowdhury and BCB security chief Hossain Imam. Nizamuddin said that they are sanguine of Australia cricket team’s tour in Bangladesh in August-September.
“At this moment, we did not get any new proposal from them. We have provided our security plan. Carrol held talks with Home Minister and IGP. Today he also held discussions with our law-enforcement agencies,” Nizam Uddin said.
“He has been given assurance the similar level of security will be provided to Australian cricket what was given to England cricket team. He is happy with the commitment,” Chowdhury also said.
“We’re hopeful enough what we were since the initial stage. We are now more optimistic after Carrol’s arrival that Australia will tour in Bangladesh in due time,” he added.
It is learnt from the CE that Australia will send a three-member delegation team in July.
According to the CE, it would be a routine visit. That time they will look after the logistic, infrastructures, accommodation in hotel and routes than the security arrangement.
