Law Minister Anisul Huq yesterday proposed that the International Labour Organisation (ILO) use Dhaka as its regional hub for training up judicial officers and lawyers, reports UNB.
He made the proposal when a four-member ILO delegation, led by its Chief of Freedom of Association Branch of International Labour Standards Department Karen Curtis, met him at his office.
“I proposed using Dhaka as the ILO regional training hub so that the lawyers and judicial officers of this region come to Dhaka. If they together with our judicial officers join the training programmes, it’ll pave the way for interaction between the two groups,” the law minister told reporters after the meeting.
He also proposed the ILO take advanced training programmes in Dhaka to expedite disposal of labour-related disputes and establishment of labour rights.
Anisul said the role of judiciary in enforcing labour laws and taking training programmes for judicial officers were discussed at the meeting.
