Indian held with cigarettes
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized huge quantities of foreign cigarettes from an Indian citizen at Shahjalal International Airport early Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of CIID held the Indian national Abdur Rahim, 40, son of Mohammad Sikandar of Chennai, the capital of South Indian state Tamil Nadu, around 2pm, said Moinul Khan Director General of CIID.
The seized cigarettes of Eassy Light brand were concealed inside three large bags, he said.
The market price of the cigarettes (made in Korea) would be approximately Tk 40 lakh, he added.
RCC holds workshop

The observation came in the inaugural session of a daylong workshop titled "Capital Investment Plan (CIP) Preparation" held in the conference hall of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) in the city on Wednesday.
RCC and Municipal Governance and Services Project (MGSP) jointly organised the workshop where more than 150 officials representing various organisations, institutions and entities concerned joined.
RCC Mayor Mosaddique Hossain Bulbul addressed the session with its Chief Executive Officer Khandaker Mahbubur Rahman in the chair.
Training on skill dev held
Speakers at a discussion in Rajshahi on Monday resolved that there was no alternative to industrial entrepreneurship development training for infusing dynamism into the industrialisation process besides generating genuine entrepreneurs.
Significance of such type of training is inevitable for building digital Bangladesh declared by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. More impetus is needed to development of entrepreneurship particularly women through small and medium enterprises (SME) financing to accelerate the economy both in rural and urban areas.
They were addressing the inaugural session of three-day industrial development training at Skill Development Training Centre. Industrial Support Centre (ISC) of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) organised the training.
