The High Court yesterday transferred Zia Charitable Trust fund embezzlement case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from Special Judge Court-3 to Special Judge Court-5.
In response to a petition, the HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim shifted the case to Dhaka Special Court 5 judge Akhtaruzzaman from the present court of Dhaka Special Court 3 Judge Md Abu Ahmed Jamadar.
The HC also asked the Dhaka Special Court 3 to dispose of the case within 60 days after receiving the copy of the order.
Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of Special Judge Court-5 of Dhaka will conduct the preceding of the case. On May 15, the BNP chief filed the petition with the HC saying that she has expressed no confidence in judge Md Abu Ahmed Jamadar.
In her no confidence petition, Khaleda said justice might not be done to her if she is tried by the court of Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar.
The court of Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar is scheduled for Thursday to record remaining statement of Khaleda Zia she gave earlier to defend her in the charges.
