BNP vice chairman Abdullah Al-Noman on Wednesday said their party will join the next general election forcing the government to hold it under an election-time 'supportive' government, reports UNB.
“The government has made many sarcastic comments over the election-time supportive government. I would like to tell them that BNP will go to the next election, we won't boycott it. Before that, the government will be forced to accept the election-time supportive government through a movement,” he told a human chain programme.
Jatiya Gonotantrik Andolon organised the programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club demanding withdrawal of 'false' cases filed against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.
Terming the current government an authoritarian one, Noman said it is trying to suppress people by snatching their all rights. “Killing, enforced disappearance, repression and false cases have become their main agenda. A national unity is crucial against the regime.”
The BNP leader said their party, if voted to power, will not do the politics of vengeance. He also said a law will be formulated to increase Bangladesh Bank's monitoring power to check money laundering if BNP returns to power.
About their party's 'Vision 2030', Noman said a national unity and the spirit of Liberation War are the main basis of the vision to turn Bangladesh into a modern country.
