RANGPUR: Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) started selling essentials at fair prices on the occasion of holy Ramadan through 90 dealers in the divisional city here from Monday, official sources said, reports BSS. Under the programme, sugar is being sold at Taka 55 per kg, ‘Chhola’ Taka 70 per kg, bottled soya-bean oil Taka 85 per litre, lentil (Canada) Taka 80 per kg and ‘Chhola’ at Taka 70 per kg by the TCB dealers.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman inaugurated the selling programme at a ceremony arranged by TCB in the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises here as the chief guest.
Presided over by TCB dealer Matiar Rahman, officials of TCB, Councilors of Rangpur City Corporation, civil society members and local elite attended the ceremony.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said the government has launched selling of essential commodities at fair prices among common people to keep prices under control during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. According to official sources, 90 TCB authorised dealers have been selling the essential commodities in Rangpur city, of them, five dealers selling those using mobile trucks in the city area. The officials of TCB have been monitoring the open marketing process of the essential goods by mobile trucks and selling by the approved dealers in at their own selling centres in the city.
