The Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) authority has lodged a case in connection with recovery of medicines, worth Tk 15 lakh, from hospital pond and ward. The case was lodged after the third-member probe committee submitted a report to probe the discovery of a huge haul of government medicines in a pond of the hospital staff quarters and its female medicine ward on Friday and Saturday. Dr SM Sirajul Huq, director SBMCH, said the authority lodged a case on Monday night with Barisal Kotwali police station after getting the report of the probe committee, led by Dr Md Abdul Kadir, deputy director of the hospital, on Monday noon.
In this case Shefali Begum, a class IV employee of female medicine ward, and Bilkis Begum, staff nurse of the ward, were accused, the director SBMCH told The Independent.
Earlier, Asaduzzaman, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police in-charge of Kotwali police station, said Sub Inspector Arobinda Biswas as complainant lodged the two cases in connections.
Police also arrested Sefali Begum, class IV employee of female medicine ward, and his son Md Mamun arrested on Friday afternoon and Bilkis Begum, staff nurse of the ward, arrested on Saturday afternoon in these connections. The arrested were sent to jail through court on Sunday after primary interrogation, the police official told.
