Malaysia to recruit more workers from Bangladesh

The Malaysian government yesterday indicated that they will continue to recruit more workers from Bangladesh and open up new areas like mining for them, reports UNB. Secretary General of Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ramlan Ibrahim shared the plan when he met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at his office. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the ongoing recruitment process of Bangladeshi workforce in Malaysia under 'G to G Plus' mechanism.
Mahmood Ali stressed the need for maintaining transparency in the system and requested Malaysia to continue recruiting more workers from Bangladesh. He highlighted the advantages of investing in the Special Economic Zones being established by the government all over the country and encouraged Malaysian investors to come forward to invest there.
The Malaysian side showed keenness in this regard and will communicate this message to their businessmen and investors, according to the Foreign Ministry here.
Secretary General Ramlan expressed Malaysia's readiness to engage in discussion on the possibility of establishing Free Trade Area (FTA) between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister agreed to give it the due consideration.
During the meeting, Ramlan Ibrahim briefed the Foreign Minister on the outcome of the Bilateral Consultations held on Monday. Terming Malaysia one of Bangladesh's trusted friends, the Foreign Minister pointed out the excellent understanding and goodwill prevailing among the highest political level of the two countries.
He said the pool of goodwill that exists between the two countries should be utilised in more trade and investment for economic benefit of the two nations. The Secretary General indicated that they would continue to recruit more workers from Bangladesh and will open up new areas like mining for them.
