Sean Carrol, Anti-corruption and Security Manager of Cricket Australia (CA), expressed his satisfaction to see the overall security arrangement and other facilities of Bangladesh government and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). CA’s security chief met first with Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque at Police Headquarters after arriving in Dhaka on his three-day official visit ahead of the Australia cricket team’s upcoming tour in Bangladesh.
The security chief exchanged views with IGP regarding the logistic facility, security arrangement and other facilities for the Australia cricket team. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Special Branch, BCB high officials ‘among others’ were also present.
He also talked with DIG (operations) Barrister Mahbubur Rahman at Police Headquarters.
Carrol then went to the Home ministry and held a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“I am happy to see the overall arrangement of the government and its security bodies,” Sean Carrol told local media after holding meetings.
“There will be no problem for Australia cricket team during their tour in Bangladesh because we are a sports-loving country. Our Prime Minister loves cricket. We give our highest security for those teams, who came here to play in the country,” Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.
Kamal also said that Carrol wanted to know, will Australia get such security what was given to England cricket team in October last year? “I assured him that we will give your team what level security you will seek from us. We want the world see the cricket match between Bangladesh and Australia,” the Home Minister told.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan said that they provide the highest level of security to the foreign teams.
“The security we provide to the foreign teams that are rare in the world. We travel in different countries of the world. We see their arrangement,” Nazmul Hassan said.
“Australia had some confusion about our security arrangement. And so, they sent their security team to try out the arrangement. But the courage of Australia has been increased after England played in Bangladesh,” Papon told reporters.
Australia are scheduled to tour in Bangladesh on August 18 to play the two-Test series. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) meanwhile sent the schedule and itinerary of the series to Cricket Australia.
As per the schedule, the Test will be held before and after the Eid-ul-Fitr in August and September.
The visiting Australian delegation will meet with DGFI and RAB high officials before visiting Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.
