Mother hacked dead, daughter hurt in attack

A woman was killed and her daughter sustained injuries after being stabbed by two youths at Akua Sardarbari in the Sadar upazila of Mymensingh yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 45, wife of Nazrul Islam of the area while the injured was Khushi Akhter, 18, daughter of Anwara.Qamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said Anwara had an altercation with two young boys -- Mahbub and Rahat -- as she forbade the boys to play song loudly in the colony on Thursday evening due to the holy Shab-e-Barat. Later, around 7pm on Friday, the two youths attacked Anwara and her daughter Khushi with knives and stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving them injured critically. They were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where on-duty physician declared Anwara dead on arrival, OC said.
