CRI social media workshop for AL MPs ends

A three-day workshop to train ruling party lawmakers in social media use ended in the capital yesterday. Centre for Research and Information (CRI), a non-profit policy research organisation of the ruling Awami League, initiated the workshop on Sunday.
A total of 134 ruling party lawmakers participated in the workshop titled “Lawmakers’ Role in Social Media” and received necessary tips and guidelines on using social media.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and her ICT affairs adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy inaugurated the workshop. The aim of the programme was to give the lawmakers tips on how to reach grassroots people using the social media and make them aware about the government’s development activities.
Though the presence of AL lawmakers fell by half on the second day compared to the first day, over 40 members of parliament (MPs) were present on the concluding day of the workshop.  Inaugurating the workshop on Sunday, Joy gave party lawmakers a preliminary guideline on how to connect with people across the country and in the remote areas using social media. Several participants hailed such initiative saying that many of them have no adequate knowledge about social media. They think the workshop will help them to highlight the government’s success stories to the people.
