Haor victims to get assistance till next Boro season: Quader

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has assured the haor flood victims of continuous government assistance until the next Boro season. “Don’t think yourself helpless… all sorts of assistance will continue uninterruptedly till the next Boro season,” he said while addressing a street rally at Moulvibazar's Juri upazila yesterday morning.
Quader, also the roads transport and bridges minister, criticised BNP leaders for only speaking about the haor flood victims rather than standing beside them.  “The BNP leaders often make inconsistent remarks criticising the government instead of standing by the haor flood victims,” he said.
He said BNP had visited haor areas only for media coverage but they did nothing for the victims. “They (BNP) can do only one thing and that is criticising every move the government takes, which is very unfortunate,” Quader said.
