Phelps celebrates son Boomers 1st birthday
Michael Phelpss son Boomer celebrated his first birthday this week - and did so in a suitably aquatic style, reports Today.com
The one-year-old son of Phelps and former Miss California Nicole Phelps starred in a series of sweet Instagram posts on his personal account over the weekend, revealing that his first birthday party had its own special theme: shark attack.
The party included a pair of incredible birthday cakes, one being in the shape of a vicious shark emerging out of water with its eyes on a helpless crab.
The other smaller cake was decked in blue and white icing to look like churned up water and topped with a number one.
First bday party for @boomerrphelps!!! proud dad Michael wrote in the caption for a picture of the family together. What an amazing birthday cake!!!
The little boy looks overjoyed with the shark-themed party happening around him, complete with balloons and other sea creatures.
Michael also shared a sweet photo of him looking lovingly at his son shortly after he came into the world one year ago.
One year ago.. @mrs.nicolephelps and I had the privilege to welcome @boomerrphelps to this world.... for me its the best thing that ever happened to me!! he wrote.
In another post on Boomers page, the many inner layers of the delicious confection were revealed, along with the caption: I hope my bday cakes are always this cool!!!!!
On Nicoles account, she shared a short clip of the adorable little boy sitting in a plastic pool, surrounded by balloons having dove right into his birthday cake.
Happy First Shark Attack Birthday Boomer. I think he approved... Nice work!! she wrote, tagging the bakers who made the cake, Heartsweet Cakes.
Its no surprise that the most decorated Olympian in history has had sharks on the brain recently, as he revealed back in March that he will be taking part in the Discovery Channels famous Shark Week programming, which is set to begin on July 23.
