Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore have endured a nightmare of an IPL 2017 season and, according to India cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, Kohli should bear responsibility for the failure as the leader of the group. The India captain, after the damning loss to Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, took to Twitter to write an apology to the RCB faithful, reports T2online.com.
RCB stand rock-bottom in the bottom of the current IPL table with only 5 points from their 13 matches so far. In fact, Virat's men have not won in six of their last matches with Kohli himself managing only 96 runs in these six outings.
Gavaskar was particularly critical of Kohli after RCB's disappointing loss to Kings XI Punjab on May 5 and in the post-match analysis session, said, "The first thing he should be doing is look himself in the mirror. The shot he played (vs KXIP) wasn’t exactly a great shot. The shot he played at Eden Gardens (against KKR) wasn’t a great shot either.” “He has got to say to himself that he is the captain. He has got to stay there. He is not in form so stay there and he should work himself with proper cricketing shots then widen the scope of the shots,” Gavaskar added.
Post the slamming from Gavaskar, RCB succumbed to yet another defeat at the hands of KKR on Sunday, with the team showing no improvement or drive to turn things around.
