Reigning champions Dhaka Abahani Limited have been drawn in tough group as the group-draw and logo unveiling ceremony of  Walton 29th Federation Cup Football was held at the BFF conference room in the capital yesterday. The 12-team season curtain raiser will begin on May 13.

Walton, the largest electronic company of the country, once again became the title sponsor of the tournament and powered by Premier Bank Limited.  Transcom Food Ltd, Progati Insurance, Eastern Bank Ltd and Prime Distribution Group became the co-sponsor, while Amra network signed as the ISP partner of the tournament.
Twelve premier league teams divided into four groups are taking part in the tournament. Defending champions Abahani Limited, who were drawn in Group-A got two other leading teams including Muktijoddha Sangsad and newcomer in the premier league Saif Sports Club Ltd who have already created sensation by forming one of the best teams with the inclusion of a number of national players. Even the team has already held their preparation camp in India and played some exhibition matches with Kolkata giants.
Chittagong Abahani Limited, who have been doing better result than some traditional clubs of Dhaka, will play in Group-B with runners-up Arambagh KS and Mohammedan Sporting Club.
Group-C has also got two leading teams Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra. They got another newcomer Farashganj Sporting as the third team in the group.
Probably Group-D is the weakest one as no big team is there. Brothers Union. Rahmatganj MFS and Team BJMC will fight for the two quarterfinal spots from this group.
The four group champions and runners-up will qualify for the quarterfinals and the winners of last eight will clash in the semifinal
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has signed a new sponsorship deal with Walton. BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedi and Walton operative director & head of sports and welfare F M Iqbal Bin Anwar Don, signed the deal on behalf of the two parties.  
The champions will receive Tk five lakh as prize money, runners-up will get Tk 3 lakhs and each team will receive Tk one lakh as participation money.
