Abdul Majid hit a century and Arafat Sunny claimed his career-best six for 56 as Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club crushed Victoria Sporting Club comfortably by 119 runs at BKSP-3 ground yesterday in the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
Majid smote seven boundaries and five sixes in his 114 ball-116 as Prime Doleshwar amassed a massive 339 for six after which Arafat Sunny spun the side to the victory by wrapping Victoria up for 220 in 45.5 overs. Sunny took three wickets in his first spell to leave Victoria 39 for four and made sure that Victoria would remain win-less so far in the league. However Shafiul Hayet and Moinul Islam gave it a try by sharing 96 runs. Hayet made 66 while Moinul scored 64 runs.
After the dismissal of the both of them, Sunny pegged back them to complete the side’s facile victory.
Majid shared three significant partnership –72 with Imtiaz Hossain, 91 with Shahriar Nafees and 53 with Marshall Ayub to set the platform. Sri Lankan recruit Chaturnaga de Silva then helped the side propel past 300 with devastating 25 ball-64, hitting six fours and four sixes.
Legends of Rupganj in the day’s other match sealed a 28-run victory over Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.
Rupganj were bowled out for 239 in 49.5 overs with Yasir Ali scored highest 59 and Reza Ali Dar made 46. However their bowlers bowled well in tandem to shoot Khelaghar out for 211 in 48.1 overs.
Khelaghar was pushed on the back-foot after Sharif took inform Robiul Islam Robi out in the first ball of the innings. After scoring two consecutive centuries, Robi was dismissed for 0 in this match. Nazimuddin with 59 and Nazmul Sadat with 52 kept the side on course but eventually Rupgan
