The computer personnel under the government organisation recruitment rules 1985 at a function in the capital on Monday demanded recognition of their positions as technical posts and urged authorities concerned to provide them with six technical increment, radiation allowance and 100 per cent selection grade and promotions. They also demanded implementation of an inter-departmental decision by the Public Administration to upgrade the post of computer operator to class two and raise pay scale accordingly as well as introducing BCS ICT cadre. The demands came from an Eid-reunion function of the Bangladesh Computer Professional Association (BCPA). Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan attended the programme as chief guest. It was also attended among others, by RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, chair, standing committee on the CHT Affairs Ministry.
