Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy will provide the ruling party lawmakers with some guidelines and share tips from his technological experience on the use of social media today.
In a party press release yesterday it was said that Sajeeb Wazed Joy, also the ICT advisor to the prime minister, is scheduled to attend a workshop titled ‘Role of MPs in social media’. He will address the three-day long programme that will begin today 10am at the party president Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office, the media release said.
Party insiders said, ICT advisor Joy will give necessary tips and guidelines to the party lawmakers on how to set up connections with people across the country and of the remote areas using social media.
When contacted, Information and Communication Technology State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, said the objectives of the workshop is to provide advices and instructions to the party lawmakers about the proper use of social media as around two and half crore people in the country are now using social media.
“If we can connect the social media users with the development activities of the current government, and our party lawmakers can actively and properly use the social media and project government success stories, the AL, as a party, and the country will both benefit from the move,” Palak said.
“The party lawmakers can use the social media as a tool for their election campaigning. They (MPs) can attract the young generation through the social media,” he said. “If our MPs can convince the country’s young generation through the social media, they [young generation] would not take any wrong decision in the next general election,” he added.
“We will give necessary guidelines to the party lawmakers through the workshop so that they can make the optimum use of social media. Our main target is to attract young generation and make them aware about the Sheikh Hasina government’s thoughts about the country,” he said.
“He [Joy] might share his technological experiences with the party lawmakers through the workshop today so that we can easily reach to the people through social media,” said AL lawmaker Iqbalur Rahim.
“As the next general elections is not so far, we can use his [Joy] tips and experience during our election campaigns through the use of social media,” he said, adding that as the country is technologically moving ahead under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the party lawmakers should also be skilled in technology.
As per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and with the advice of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the Center for Research and Information (CRI) is organising the workshop.
