Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yestedray said the next parliamentary elections will be held in time as per the constitution regardless of BNP's decision to join or not, reports BSS.
“If BNP comes to election, they will be welcomed . . . if they do not, it is up to them,” he told a meeting with visiting Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) President Mahendra Ved along with members from Bangladesh and India on Friday late evening at his Hare road residence in the capital, said a release.
Inu said in democracy political parties remain committed to constitution.
“However, (BNP Chairperson) Begum Khaleda Zia's open declaration to disrupt the last parliamentary elections has proven BNP's non-democratic nature,” the minister said.
He said it is not the elections they thrive for, their goal seems to attaining power at any manner, be it resorting to violence, be it through conspiracy they showed. Jayanta Roy Chowdhury and Kingshuk Roy from India and Shyamal Dutta, Parveen F Chowdhury, Osman Gani Mansur, M Zahid Newaz Khan, Aminur Rashid and Badal Roy from CJA Bangladesh chapter attended the meeting.
