2 arrested with yaba; arms seized in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: Members of the Narcotics Control Department (NCD) arrested two alleged drug peddlers with contraband yaba tablets from Bakalia area in the city early hours yesterday, reports BSS.
The arrested were identified as HM Abdullah and Khurshed Alam. On a tip-off, a team of NCD detained them with 4000 yaba tablets from the north side of Shah Amanat Bridge in the city around 2.30am, said Shamim Ahmed, Deputy Director of NCD Chittagong.
NCD sources said the arrested had been involved with drug business for long. A case was filed with city's Bakalia thana in this connection. 
Another report adds: Police arrested a youth with two light guns (LG) and a round of bullet from Charandwip village under Boalkhali Uapzila of the district on Friday night.
The arrested was identified as Messy, 30, son of Abdus Shukkur, hailed from Maijpara area of Charandwip village of the Uapzila.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Boalkhali thana Mohammad Salah Uddin said locals detained Messy with the firearms and bullet while he was showing the firearms publicly at the area. Local people caught him and later he was handed over to police.
Necessary steps would be taken after investigation, the OC added.
