Parliament yesterday unanimously adopted a resolution to enact a law for punishing those who will distort the history of 1971 Liberation War and the mass killing, reports UNB.
Awami League MP Fazilatun Nasa Bappy (Reserved Seat-30) placed the resolution in the House, which was adopted by voice vote.
Law Minister Anisul Huq supported the private member resolution, saying what the MP said in her proposal is a historical truth. He said the Law Ministry has already drafted a bill titled ‘Bangladesher Muktijodder Itihas Bikritikoron Oporadh Ain’ to check distortion of the history of the 1971 Liberation War.
“The draft bill will be placed before the Cabinet soon and it’ll be passed in the current parliament,” the minister said.
Bappy in her proposal said those who deny the mass killing do not believe in the country’s independence and sovereignty.
