The deadline of public consultation over a draft directives prepared by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) for mobile telecom operators to ensure ‘Quality of Service’ will be concluded tomorrow.
In draft directives, BTRC has allowed overall call drop ratio less than 2 per cent monthly.
Earlier, BTRC had sought written comments about the draft directives on QoS for mobile telecom operators from the concerned stakeholders, experts, researchers and other interested parties.
BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood told The Independent that the regulator will finalise the directives operators to ensure ‘Quality of Service’ through public consultation and the commission has taken all out efforts to ensure Quality of Service.
Every mobile telecom operator will meet the Quality of Service standard for entire service area and different sub-service area levels, namely overall network, every individual city corporation area level and rest of the licensed areas in Bangladesh, according to the draft directives.
It also said BTRC may publish the ranking of the operators in terms of QoS from different evaluation processes such as customer survey, results of the audit, drive test and the self-reporting of the operators through its website or media to raise public awareness and to push the operators for better quality.
Every Cellular Mobile Telecom Operator shall submit to the Commission monthly reports on its compliance with each of the QoS standards specified in tables, namely Table-l and Table 2 of clause 3.1 within the first 10 (ten) days at the end of each month in the format specified by the Commission, it added.'
