Bangladesh takes on Sussex XI today in their second practice match as part of their preparation campaign for the tri-nation series in Ireland and ICC Champions Trophy.
The tourists’ first practice match against Duke of Norfolk XI was washed out due to heavy rain after Bangladesh posted a gigantic 345 for seven, thanks to an unbeaten 98 ball-134 from stand in captain Mushfiqur Rahim. Norfolk also fought neck-to-neck and was 95 for no loss in 19 overs before the rain forced the match to call off.
Tamim Iqbal, who was not the part of the first game due to a sickness would play the second match today and as the vice-captain of the side he is expected to lead. Regular skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is in the Bangladesh due to be side with his ailing wife.
However Mashrafe along with Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman is expected to join the side in Sussex on May 6.
Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim along with all other members of the team continued their practice despite the cold weather condition of England on Friday and Saturday.
After 10 days camp in England, Bangladesh team will fly to Ireland on 7 May. Mashrafe’s team will play a warm-up match there.
Bangladesh will face Ireland in the first ODI of the tri-nation series on May 12. Tigers will play against New Zealand on May 17 in their second match. Bangladesh will play against New Zealand again on May 19.
