Girls, science group students perform better in Barisal

Girls and Science group students have fared better in this year’s SSC exam under the Barisal Education Board (BEB).
BEB chairman Prof. M Ziaul Huq said 36,967 female candidates (79.82 per cent) out of 46,315 have passed the SSC exam, while 35,391 male candidates (74.73 per cent) among 47,361 have cleared the exam.  In all, 1,255 girls (2.71 per cent) have secured GPA-5, while 1,033 boy have achieved (2.18 per cent) GPA-5, he added.
As many as 75 per cent of the examinees from Barisal Govt Girls' School have achieved GPA-5. A total of 284 candidates appeared for the exam from the school and 215 of them have secured GPA-5 this year. 
On the other hand, 57 per cent male examinees from Barisal Govt Zila School have achieved GPA-5. A total of 258 examinees appeared for the SSC exam from the school and 148 of them have secured GPA-5 this year.
Science group students have performed better than those of other groups, as 21,378 candidates (91 per cent) among 23,492 in the  group passed the SSC, with 2,117 of them (9 per cent) securing GPA-5. Eight candidates were expelled from the group for adopting unfair means during the examination. 
However, 23,403 examinees (77.43 per cent) out of 30,225 in the business studies group have passed the exam. As many as 77 of them (0.25 per cent) have secured GPA-5. Twenty-two examinees were expelled for resorting to unfair means in the examination.
From the humanities group, 27,577 candidates (69.01 per cent) out of 39,959 examines passed the exam, with 94 of them achieving GPA-5 (0.25 per cent). Nine examinees were expelled for adopting unfair means in the exam.
In the district-wise result, Jhalakathi district topped the list with a success rate of 82.78 per cent. The success rate was 80.14 per cent for Barisal district, 78.59 per cent for Pirojpur district, 75.94 for Patuakhali district, 72.21 for Barguna district and 70.58 for Bhola district.
