Senior player Mahmudullah Riyad was demoted to A grade from the A plus as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed the salary grade of the national contracted players on Tuesday.

Riyad was recently dropped from the Test team though he retained his place in ODI and T20 after much argument. The national selectors basically see some facts like experience, form, impact to include a player for a particular grade. In that sense, Riyad is believed to fall behind and placed to A grade in which his salary stands at now BDT 300,000. The national players’ salary has been revised of late after which the new salary grade was announced. 
Only four players—Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are in the A plus grade, the top grade for which the salary is BDT 400,000.
Riyad is the only one player in grade A. Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Sabbir Rahman and Soumya Sarkar are bracketed in to the grade B with salary of BDT 200,000.
Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat are in grade C and will obtain BDT 150,000.
Taijul Islam, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Mehedi Hasan Miraj are in grade D with salary of BDT 100,000. The new salary structure will be effective from January, 2017, BCB said. Meanwhile, captains  (any format) will receive an additional BDT  20,000 per month while  vice captains (any format) will get an additional BDT 10,000 per month on top of their respective salaries. 
Last year 15 players were in the salary grade but this time 16 players were included with four new players – Taskin Ahmed, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Mehedi Hasan Miraj making the cut. Three players—Nasir Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain and Arafat Sunny were dropped from the list.
