Nazrul Padak-winning eminent Nazrul Sangeet singer Sadya Afreen Mallick, who earlier made three music videos with the songs of Nazrul on different occasions, is making yet another music video to mark the upcoming birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam. DhakaLive has news that the music video, which is currently underway with a song of Nazrul titled ‘O bhai khati sonar cheye khati amar desher mati’, will be aired on almost every channel of the country, including YouTube on occasion of ‘Nazrul Janmo Jayanti’ on May 25.
Responding to the call of Sadya Afreen Mallick, four other eminent Nazrul Sangeer singers of the country have lent their vocals to the song. They are Ekushey Padak-winning singer Shaheen Samad, Rebeka Sultana, Fatema Tuz Zohra and Yasmin Mushtari.
With these five eminent singers, Sumon Chowdhury, Shelu Barua, Tanveer Alam Sajeeb, Waqir Ahad, Prithviraj, Shahid Kabir Palash, Jahangir Alam and a group of young artistes from the Nazrul Institute have taken part in the music video.
The first phase of the shooting of the music video was completed at a park in the capital’s Gulshan area on Monday. The rest of the shooting will take place in Sonargaon very soon. Shaheen Samad and Sumon Chowdhury have given lead voice to the song done in a modern composition.
Sadya Afreen Mallick said about making a music video once again, “Our mentors like Sheikh Lutfor Rahman, Sohrab Hossain, Wahidul Haque, Sanjida Khatun have always shown the path to uphold and nourish our very own culture. From that urge, I prefer to make these types of music videos. Many the songs of Nazrul are still neglected. And this is the perfect time to spread these songs across the globe.”
“I am really fascinated, as well as grateful to everyone the way they respond to my call”, she added. Shaheen Samad said about participating in the music video, “We all are grateful to Sadya Afreen Mallick for this great initiative. This is really a joyful matter to sing Nazrul Sangeet together in this wonderful manner. I believe these songs would be admired by the audience one day; therefore, Sadya’s hard work will be successful.”
