The Ministry of Water Resources has suspended three engineers of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) for their alleged negligence and corruption in embankments construction in haors in Sunamganj district, reports UNB. The Ministry on Wednesday issued an order in this regard, according to a handout. The suspended BWDB officials are chief engineer (North-East region) Md Abdul Hye, superintendent engineer (Sylhet) Md Nurul Islam Sardar and then executive engineer (Sunamganj) Md Afsar Uddin. There are allegations that the BWDB engineers showed negligence as well as were involved in corruption in constructing and repairing embankments in haor region, resulting in early flashfood that damaged a vast area of paddy field and fisheries resources.
