Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order when SM Shahrier Hossain, inspector of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court with a ten-day remand prayer.
Earlier, members of CTTC arrested Ashfaq from the city’s Bhatara area on Monday night. He was shown arrest in a case filed with Bhatara Police Station under Anti-terrorism Act. “Ashfaq was a close aide of militant leader Major Zia. After completing his graduation from Computer Science Department in Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), he joined ABT,” said Monirul Islam, chief of CTTC at a press briefing at DMP media centre. Later, he joined the military wing of ABT and took training in Uttara and Pallabi on atheist blogger killing, added Monirul.
