Bangladesh emerged champions overwhelming their heavyweight rivals India and Pakistan in the seventh South Asia Hakuakai Karate Championship 2017 in Meerut, India yesterday.
Organised by All India Karate Association, Bangladesh clinched 10 medals including eight golds, one silver and one bronze in the two-day-long championship. The hosts India becomes second and Nepal lies behind them in the eight-nation meet.
A 14-member contingent led by Bangladesh Karate Federation (BKF) general secretary Sheikh Ali Ahsan act as team leader toured India to participate in the South Asian Championship.
The victorious team will return home from Meerut today.
