Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) extended the submission date of the legal documents of the interested companies for the next two days till Thursday.
The two-year-deal with Robi Axiata Limited will be ended on May 31 this year. And so, the BCB floated their tender seeking the sponsorship of the Bangladesh Cricket Team for the next two years. March 29 was the last date to drop the tender for the interested local and overseas multinational companies.
It is learnt from the BCB insiders that a total of five national and multinational companies bought the schedule being interested. Of them, the uprising local company Pran-RFL company is in contention with GrameenPhone and Robi Axiata Limited to rope in the sponsorship right of the Tigers.
Fresh of Meghna Group alongside Bcash, mobile banking of Dutch Bangla Bank also expressed their keen interest to get the sponsorship right.
BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury in this regard said though he did not disclose the names of companies who dropped their tender to earn the sponsorship right of the Bangladesh cricket team for the next two years.
“We’ve extended two more days for the interested companies so that they could submit their legal document properly,” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
“Due to technical causes, we could not reveal the names of the companies at the moment. We want to utter their name in due time,” Chowdhury told The Independent.
It was earlier scheduled to end on April 2. This year the floor price for bidders has been fixed at BDT 60 crore for two-year duration.
