Left arm spinner Taijul Islam yet again showed a devastating bowling performance as he claimed six for 24 to anchor Mohammedan Sporting Club’s 51-run win over Legends of Rupganj, defending a paltry total of 135 at BKSP-3 ground yesterday.

Mohammedan’s archrival Abahani Limited however got back to winning way after two matches. Thanks to a four for 19 of Shuvagata Hom, they crushed Kalabagan Krira Chakra by six wickets at BKSP-4 ground.
Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club however snapped Prime Bank Cricket Club’s winning march and stripped them off from the unbeaten tag by securing a seven-wicket victory at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.
MSC vs Legends of Rupganj
Taijul Islam followed his four wickets in the previous match to return a figure of 10-1-24-6 to help Mohammedan keep its winning-spree despite their batsmen failed to respond against a mighty Rupganj.
Mohammedan were bowled out for just 135 in 39.4 and this should be a cake-walk for Rupganj. But Taijul foiled the party in a gem of spin bowling as Rupganj were shot out for 84 in 32.3 overs. The performance however raised his chance once again to force his case stronger in getting into the national team.
Taijul broke the spine of Rupganj, removing the first six batsmen in a spell of guile and turn that downed the opponents to 53 for six. From the position it was tough to get back into the game. And when Pace bowler Sajedul Islam came up with fire to complement Taijul, Rupganj’s fate was sealed. Sajedul snapped up two for just three in his four overs spell to ensure that Rupganj even couldn’t propel past them 100 runs.
Mosharraf Hossain Rubel was the top scorer for the side with 22 and aside him only two batsmen could reach double digit figure. No one from Mohammedan also could hit fifty plus knock in the low scoring game. Their highest 24 came from Roqibul Hassan. Shamsur Rahman scored 23 while Nazmul Hossain Milon made 20.
Asif Hasan dealt a blow in Mohammedan’s innings by grabbing four for 14 after Mohammad Sharif gave the initial breakthrough. Sharif sliced Mohammedan top order with two for 15. But at the end it mattered little as Taijul propped up his game in extra ordinary fashion.
Abahani vs Kalabagan
Shuvagata Hom starred in the match as a bowler as he snared four for 19 to help the Abahani bowl Kalabagan Krira Chakra out for 156 runs. Saif Hasan made a fluent 62 ball-61 then to steer Abahani to a six-wicket win as the side reached the winning mark, scoring 161 for four in 30.2 overs.
Mohammad Mithun was not out on 30 of 20 hitting four fours and one six. After the openers slow start, Saif gave the side a momentum with his quick batting even though he was not known for scoring quickly.
Saif smacked six fours and one six in his 62 ball-61.
However Shuvagat Hom paved the way for a facile victory. After Mohammad Saifuddin gave the initial breakthrough, Shuvagata Hom ripped through the middle order in a measly bowling effort. In a 10 overs spell at a stretch he conceded just 19 runs to stall the progress of Kalabagan. Captain Tushar Imran was the highest scorer with 36 while Hamilton Masakadza made 31.
Doleshwar vs Prime Bank
Shahriar Nafees led the team to exciting victory, hitting an unbeaten 78 after Prime Doleshwar bowlers bowled well in tandem to shoot mighty Prime Bank out for 180 in 49.5 overs.
Aside Shahriar, Salman Hossain also contributed with 62 runs as Prime Doleshwar reached the winning mark by making 181 for three in 45.2 overs.
Doleshwar had a horrendous start, being reduced to 18 for two before Shahirar and Marshall Ayub revived the chase with 133 runs partnership. It not only rescued the side but also edged them closer to the victory. Marshall though was out with the side in the sight of the victory, Shahriar took them to home without further fuss.
