Bangladesh pile up 345/7 in 50 overs against Norfolk XI

Mushfiqur Rahim who stood in as a captain in the absence of regular ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and vice-captain Tamim Iqbal smashed an unbeaten century in the rain-abandoned 50-over warm-up game against Duke of Norfolk XI on Monday in Sussex. 

Mashrafe returned to the country just ahead of the match  to see his ailing wife while Tamim was slightly injured which is why Mushfiqur had to wear the captain’s armband. The Test skipper however won the toss and opted to bat first in chilly and overcast conditions in Sussex, where the team is having a conditioning camp. 
The former ODI skipper then led from the front, scoring unbeaten 134 off just 98 balls as the visitors compiled a massive 345 for 7 in their stipulated 50 overs. Mushfiqur, according to information provided by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, hit 14 fours and a six in his marauding knock. Soumya Sarker scored 73 off 64 with seven fours and a six while Imrul Kayes added 44. Mehedi Hasan Miraz (31) and Nasir Hossain (26) added valuable contributions too.
However in bowling front, the Bangladesh bowlers weren’t as bright as the batsmen. The Norfolk, mainly formed with aged and retired players were solid in reply. Their openers comfortably faced the bowlers to take the side 95 for no loss after 19 overs. Thereafter the rain intervened and no more play was possible.
Bangladesh will play their next practice match against Sussex on May 5 before heading to Ireland where they will play a Tri-nation series, also involving New Zealand.
