People from all walks of life, including ministers, political leaders and cultural activists, paid their last tributes to freedom fighter and noted recitation artiste Kazi Arif at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital on Tuesday, reports UNB.
A guard of honor was also given to Kazi Arif when his body was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at about 11:30 am. The body was kept there for two hours so that people can pay their homage to the popular cultural personality.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, cultural personality and film director Nasir Uddin Yousuf Bacchu, actor Ramendu Majumdar and artiste Jayanta Chattopadhyay were, among others, present there. Awami League presidium member Abdur Razzak, joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni and organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury paid tributes to Kazi Arif on behalf of Awami League.
From Shaheed Minar the body was taken to Dhaka University mosque where his second namaz-e- janaza was after Zohr prayers. His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Jamaica Muslim centre in the United States.
