KHULNA: Over 50 leaders and activists of Juba Dal, the youth front of BNP, were sued on Monday on charge of assaulting police in the city, reports BSS.
Rubel Mohanta, sub-inspector of Khulna Kotwali police station, filed the case accusing 25 named and 30 unnamed JubA Dal men, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the police station. Newly elected president of Khulna city unit JubA Dal Md Mahbub Hassan Piaru and its general secretary Md Nazmul Huda Chowdhury Sagar were among the identified accused.
The others are: Md Ekramul Haque Helal, Md Mehedi Hasan Sohag, Azizul Hassan Dulu, Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, Sultan Mahmud Sumon, Sakir Ahmed, Biplob, Abdullahel Kafi Sokha, Md Nasim, Firoz Sheikh, Masum, Zamil, Sohag Gazi, Lal Mia, Md Saiful, Sheikh Omor Ali, Sheikh Anwar Hossain, Sheikh Asad, Md Masud Rana, Md Zabir, Md Shanta, Md Rubel, Sheikh Devid and Md Belal Hossain.
At least 70 Jubodal men assembled in front of BNP office located in KD Ghosh Road aimed at bringing out a procession.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and asked them not to bring out a procession, as they did not take permission from Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) authority, said the OC. Then, Juba Dal men swooped on police and hurled brick chips at them, leaving four cops injured. The injured police personnel, Kamrul Islam, Showkat Ali, Sekendar Ali and Anwarul Islam, were rushed to police hospital.

Nazmul Huda Chowdhury Sagar alleged that police had filed the case in a bid to foil BNP's rally to be held in Khulna city on May 6 in presence of central Joint- Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
