Two workers die inhaling toxic gas in Bogra
Bogra: Two workers died after inhaling toxic gas in a septic tank of an under-construction building at Banail Malanta in Shibganj upazila on Tuesday evening, reports UNB.
Two workers—Angur Hossain, 28, son of Foyzar Rahman, and Shah Alam Ali, son of Sadek Ali, residents of Gaibandha district—went down the septic tank to remove support of its newly-built slab around 6:30 pm, said officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station Shahid Mahmud Khan.
However, they died after inhaling toxic gas inside the tank, said the OC adding the bodies were sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.


2 ‘robbers’ held with arms   
Satkhira: Police in a drive arrested two suspected forest robbers along with two firearms at Gabura in Shyamnagar upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Tipped off that two forest robbers—Baizid Hossain, 35, and Mukul Sarder, 34, -- were there at Kholpetua village, police conducted a drive there and arrested the duo.
Police also recovered two shutter guns from their possession, said officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station Sayed Mannan Ali.

Road accident kills two   
Sirajganj: Two transport workers were killed and three people injured in a road accident at Fuljor on Dhaka-Bogra Highway under Salagna Police Station early yesterday, reports UNB.
The accident took place when a goods-laden truck hit another one from behind around 4:30 am, leaving driver and helper of the second truck dead on the spot and three others injured, said sergeant Abdul Gani of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station.
The deceased, who are yet to be identified, were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy, Gani said.

Five get life term for murder
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Chandpur
A court in Chandpur sentenced five people to life term imprisonment yesterday for killing a youth at Uttar Balia village in Chandpur Sadar upazila.
District and Sessions Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed delivered the verdict yesterday. The convicts are Delowar Hossain Miji, 48, Mojibur Rahman  Miji, 42, Babul  Miji, 32, Majid Miji, 40 and Nazir Ahmed Miji, 35. 
According to sources, an altercation took place between Yakub Mia and his nephew Delowar Miji over a piece of land in 2011. At one stage, when their neighbour Shafique Gazi came forward to calm them down, they injured him with lethal weapon. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. 
Shafique’s cousin Farid Ahmed filed a case with Chandpur Sadar Model police station accusing 11 people.  The court, after examining the records and witnesses, found the five accused guilty and pronounced the verdict.
