SATKHIRA: Police, in special drives from Tuesday night to this morning, arrested 46 persons including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami on various charges, arms and Phensidyl recovered from eight upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives Satkhira Sadar police arrested 10 persons including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami, Kalaroa police five, Tala police four, Kaliganj police six, Shyamnagar police 12, Assasuni police five, Patkelghata police two and Debhata police arrested two accused.
During the drives, Shyamnagar Thana police recovered two local made pipe guns in an abandoned condition.
Meanwhile, Satkhira Sadar police in a drive recovered four bottles of Phensidyl in an abandoned condition during the period.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested were sent to jail.
