Noting that a large data bank can help prevent cyber attack, Additional Secretary to the ICT Division Md Harunur Rashid has said the government is going to establish a database, involving Tk 20 billion, in the capital to this end, reports UNB.
“This will be the world's 6th data bank. Its back-up storage will be in Jessore,” he said while speaking at a seminar titled 'Cyber Security: An Overview' at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) as the chief guest on Tuesday.
The Additional Secretary also said information available with the database can help detect a risk in advance, underscoring the need for giving priority to cyber security while designing software. He said both the government and private organisations can use the data bank. However, the private organisations have to pay a minimal fee for using the database, he added. Khondkar Atique-e-Rabbani FCA, Managing Director of Computers Limited, presented the keynote paper at the seminar.
