Law enforcers conducted a block raid on a number of houses under Rajpara police station in Rajshahi city yesterday, reports UNB. However, no explosive was found and no militant was arrested ruing the drive in Court College, Tultulipara and Hargram Purbopara that lasted till 6 pm. Earlier, in the early hours, a team of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) cordoned off a five-storey house near Court College suspecting it to be a militant hideout, said RMP Deputy Commissioner Amir Zafar. The block raid was carried out in the houses of the area as part of precaution, he said.
Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and 'Special Weapons and Tactic Teams (SWAT) from Dhaka took part in the drive with the police, said Rajshahi Additional Superintendent of Police Touhidul Arif. Locals said no one was allowed to enter or go outside their houses during the drive.
